One-third of Hong Kong’s man-made slopes, about 20,000, are maintained by private slope owners. In Hong Kong, lack of maintenance is a major contributory factor to many landslides in Hong Kong. As such, the Government has strongly encouraged voluntary slope maintenance by private slope owners to enhance slope safety. In the mean time, the Geotechnical Engineering Office have been receiving queries from the property management companies. This seminar is arranged to introduce the importance of slope maintenance, slope maintenance responsibility and related legislation, how to properly maintain slopes, and how to deal with Dangerous Hillside Orders and Advisory Letters.
